This week I had the opportunity to meet the people behind Happy Worker Toys, located in Toronto, Ontario. I and another toy customizer, (thanks to wins in the OctToyberfest 2013 custom contest) were able to spend the afternoon at the Happy Worker office, meet the team, and learn more about how toys are made.
Kris Schantz (company co-founder) explained the process behind the production of Happy Worker toys - complete with visuals, example prototypes, and a conversational Q/A. I had some idea of how toy factories in China worked, but didn't realize the sheer amount of planning, effort and talent that went into the production of a single toy.
While most of their toy designs are created as corporate or convention exclusive toys, a few of their figures are still available for purchase at retail, or online.
I had a great afternoon, and learned about toys from a new perspective. Thanks again Kris!
